In June, I presented the paper “A quest for control: paperwork, templates, samples and markings on the building sites of British India’s public works ” at the 5th Francophone congress on the history of Construction in Toulouse, France. The study examined how ephemeral material objects shaped practices of supervision on Public Works sites in colonial India.
