Open House
Recollecting histories of Pune’s Engineers and Builders

The workshop and open house is a part of a 3-year research project conducted by Dr. Sarah Melsens at FLAME University in Pune and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France.

The open house showcased the findings of the research project ‘Omitted from History: How workers on India’s building sites mediated twentieth-century modernity’. Visitors discovered how operations on Pune’s building sites changed over time and learned about some of the prominent engineers and building contractors in the city’s history. The photo exhibition and documentary screenings were open to all and featured work on Pune by students at CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
